- Dreaming Our Woods - song lyrics
Virginie Litzler
Virginie is a French artist currently living in Belgium, interested in the dialogue between people, urban spaces and motion.
She photographs and interacts with people in everyday circumstances to explore how they belong to and move through places, finding ways to communicate and experiment with gravity.
Virginie worked with members of the public in Corby in 2013, as part of Fermynwoods Contemporary Art’s Gesture project. This time Virginie will be exploring how members of the public interact with Corby’s woodland with a series of workshops that aim to shift how we might perceive trees and feel weightlessness in the forest.
Natural Vestige
Virginie's contribution to "Our Woods" is inspired by her experience of woodland relics in Shanghai, international photographer Virginie Litzler creates a series of four workshops for Corby. Photographing and interacting with people in everyday circumstances, Virginie explores how we belong to and move through places, finding ways to experiment with gravity. Expect to be transported and inspired by new perceptions of Corby’s woods.
Saturday 24th September: How do you make a tree move? Experience shadows in the woods at dusk, where light and technology will play with our perception. With support from artist Tobias Zehntner.
Sunday 25th September: An experiential workshop aiming to transform how we perceive trees and feel weightlessness in the forest using a series of ‘looking devices’.
Saturday 18th March: A movement based workshop exploring our physical relationship with the woods, facilitating body awareness beyond the common understanding of the body, recorded through photography.
Sunday 19th March: Join Virginie in seeing and photographing the woods from different perspectives and through a shift in perceptions.
